The Board of Directors is elected annually by the membership at our April Annual General Meeting. The Board of Directors determine policies and programs. The staff employed by the board is responsible for organizing and executing the Chamber of Commerce's programs and promoting policies. The Committees and Task Forces are volunteer committees consisting of members of the Chamber of Commerce committed to achieving what needs to be done. As the #1 business association in the community, we are the voice of business through our collective association.

Rudi Widdershoven Past President
Rudi Widdershoven and his wife, Trish, have called Oceanside home since 1983. His experience as an RCMP officer for 14 years, 10 years with the City of Parksville, and now as a Realtor, gives Rudi diverse insights into the community. Due to his desire to be active and give back to the community, Rudi became a director of the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce in 2002, and has served as the Chamber’s Secretary/Treasurer, 1st Vice President, and has chaired the Summer by the Sea Street Market Committee.
Doug Riederer President
Doug Reiderer is a 30 year employee with Thrifty Foods, and has managed the Parksville store since 2007. Born in Vancouver, Doug has lived in B.C. all his life, mostly in Victoria. Doug presently lives in Nanaimo with his wife Kim, also a long term employee of Thrifty Foods, and 3 teen-age children, but hopes to eventually relocate to the Oceanside area. Doug enjoys hockey, golf and water-skiing and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Parksville.
Robynne Shaw President Elect
Robynne Shaw is the Guest Services Manager at Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort. She has been in the hospitality business in management positions since 1986, most of which has been in the Oceanside area. She has seen great growth in our business community. Robynne appreciates the strength of the Chamber and is interested in taking on a role that will enhance her knowledge of the business community and assist to keep it strong. Robynne is the Chair of the Parksville Qualicum Beach Tourism Association, and Vice Chair of Region 6 – Skate Canada.
Al McLean Secretary/Treasurer
Al McLean moved to Parksville from Burnaby in 2002. A graduate of BCIT, with a diploma in Marketing Management, he spent much of his working life in telecommunications, working as a business consultant, coaching clients in the areas of sales and customer service. Following his short retirement in 2002, Al went into real estate here in Oceanside and joined the Chamber. He has been active in the Chamber. serving on the Membership Committee, and continues his active role since retiring again last summer.
Donna Andres Director
Donna Andres, her husband Tim, and three children moved to Parksville in 2008. Donna was employed in the medical field for twenty five years and opened her own retail accessory boutique, Lady's Mantle, in Parksville in November of 2009. She loves the outdoors, gardening, her grandchildren and being involved in the community. Donna enjoys and appreciates the support of the chamber and is interested in taking on a role to assist others in business. Donna is the Chair of the Communications Committee.
Shawna Broekhuizen Director
Shawna Broekhuizen is the General Manager of The Beach Club Resort, since 2008, and has been in the Hospitality Industry for over 20 years in Alberta and B.C. Shawna also serves on the Board of Directors for the Parksville Qualicum Beach Tourism Association and recently completed a Masters Degree in Tourism at Royal Roads University.
Bruce Cownden Director
Bruce Cownden first came to Parksville in 1997 as the operator of Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park and Campground. Bruce is the owner/operator of Oceanside Site Services. In addition to his business duties, Bruce served a term as a School Trustee and President of the Oceanside Development and Construction Association (ODCA). Bruce has served on the Chamber Policy Committee and as liaison to the ODCA.
Jason Granger Director
Jason Granger is the owner of Encompass Computer Services. With 16 years’ experience, Jason is a hands on tech professional with a technology background that spans industrial control systems, manufacturing, education and law enforcement. Jason is the past president of the Oceanside chapter of Business Network International, co-founder of Central Island Business Builders and Co-Chair of Oceanside Initiatives – the Chamber Economic Development function.
Ashley Henry
Ashley Henry is the Business Development Representative for Harris Oceanside Chevrolet Buick GMC. Ashley is the mother of two young girls, and lives in Nanoose Bay. Ashley enjoys all the things that the island has to offer such as boating, biking, hiking and exploring. Ashley moved to Oceanside from the lower mainland three years ago where she spent over ten years in the automotive industry as a financial services manager.
Mark Jones
Mark Jones became the Branch Manager of the Parksville Coastal Community Branch in February of 2012. He graduated from Malaspina University in 2007 with a Bachelor in Business Administration and has enjoyed applying his education to a variety of challenging and exciting positions at the Credit Union since 2005. In his spare time, Mark enjoys hiking, kayaking, and everything outdoors, as well as playing and watching hockey.
Terry Kerr Vice-President
Terry Kerr moved to Parksville with his wife Heather and two daughters, from Calgary, in February 2010. He has recently become a licensed Strata Manager in the province of BC and is working towards his Brokers license. Terry is one of the owners of The Kerr Group Management Corp. Since his appointment to the Board in 2011, Terry has taken on a Co-Chair role with Oceanside Initiatives – the Chamber Economic Development function.
Lisa Leger Director
Lisa Leger is a Natural Health Consultant at Pharmasave Health Centre in Parksville, and she also has a private practice as a Fertility Awareness Educator. Lisa is currently the Chair of the Mid Island Chapter, Osteoporosis Canada - 2004-present, Vice President, Board of Directors of the Forward House Community Society and a member of the Steering Committee for Family Health and Wellness Fair as well as a member of Oceanside Community Partners and Volunteer Leader, Chronic Disease Self Management Program. Lisa chairs the Chamber’s Membership Committee.
