The Board of Directors is elected annually by the membership at our April Annual General Meeting. The Board of Directors determine policies and programs. The staff employed by the board is responsible for organizing and executing the Chamber of Commerce's programs and promoting policies. The Committees and Task Forces are volunteer committees consisting of members of the Chamber of Commerce committed to achieving what needs to be done. As the #1 business association in the community, we are the voice of business through our collective association.
Robynne Shaw President
Robynne Shaw is the General Manager at Sunrise Ridge Waterfront Resort. She has been in the hospitality business in management positions since 1986, most of which has been in the Oceanside area. She has seen great growth in our business community. Robynne appreciates the strength of the Chamber and is interested in taking on a role that will enhance her knowledge of the business community and assist to keep it strong. Robynne is the Chair of the Parksville Qualicum Beach Tourism Association, and Vice Chair of Region 6 – Skate Canada.
Bonnie Wallis President Elect
Bonnie Wallis grew up in the Toronto area, moved west in 1981 and moved from Victoria to Oceanside in 1990. Bonnie has worked primarily for tax accounting firms since 1995, with a few short years as a controller and business manager in vehicle sales companies, and earned her CGA designation ten years ago. She started her business in Parksville in April, 2008. Bonnie is the Treasurer for the Oceanside Kiwanis Club, the Cedars Society, and past Chairperson for the KidFest Society, and a new Rotarian. In her spare time, Bonnie enjoys kayaking, camping and playing poker.
Terry Kerr Treasurer
Terry Kerr moved to Parksville with his wife Heather and two daughters, from Calgary, in February 2010. He has recently become a licensed Strata Manager in the province of BC and is working towards his Brokers license. Terry is one of the owners of The Kerr Group Management Corp. Since his appointment to the Board in 2011, Terry has taken on a Co-Chair role with Oceanside Initiatives – the Chamber Economic Development function.
Al McLean Director
Al McLean moved to Parksville from Burnaby in 2002. A graduate of BCIT, with a diploma in Marketing Management, he spent much of his working life in telecommunications, working as a business consultant, coaching clients in the areas of sales and customer service. Following his short retirement in 2002, Al went into real estate here in Oceanside and joined the Chamber. He has been active in the Chamber, serving on the Membership Committee, and continues his active role since retiring again.
Donna Andres Director
Donna Andres, her husband Tim, and three children moved to Parksville in 2008. Donna was employed in the medical field for twenty five years and opened her own retail accessory boutique, Lady's Mantle, in Parksville in November of 2009. She loves the outdoors, gardening, her grandchildren and being involved in the community. Donna enjoys and appreciates the support of the chamber and is interested in taking on a role to assist others in business. Donna is the Chair of the Communications Committee.
Sue Battle Director
Sue Battle and daughters Keri and Brianne strive to offer a large variety of pet food, treats, accessories and gifts for the animal lover in us all at Bosley’s in Parksville. Sue has lived on the Island since 1997 and in Parksville for the past two years. Her hobby is breeding and showing silver Bengal cats, but her favorite pastime is spending time with her two young granddaughters.
Garry Bentham Director
Garry Bentham is a retired realtor & CREA member, having served 30 years in the business. His wife Barb worked with him for the last 19 years of his real estate career. Garry now works as a Certified Residential Building Designer and is registered with the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC. He also holds membership with the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce. Garry’s company, Village Design & Drafting, includes a variety of services. He is experienced at planning new homes, additions and landscape design, as well as land use studies for agricultural and commercial properties. Garry’s planning office serves all locations between Nanaimo and Comox.
Andy Lankester Director
Andy Lankester has been the General Manager at Harris Oceanside GM for almost 5 years. For that same time, he has been a member of the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce and has watched others work tirelessly to help Parksville grow. He feels that it is time for him to get more involved to help nourish the business community alongside the other hardworking people of the chamber. He has a love for being on the water and enjoys family and fishing when time allows. Andy believes that we can build a strong, vibrant, growing community, by supporting one another. He also believes that positive financial results are achievable along with maintaining that precious life balance that most of us so desire.
Bill McKinney Vice-President
Bill McKinney moved to Parksville in 2000 following a 35 year career
with the Royal Bank. During these years he held several managerial
positions including 12 as Manager, Marketing & Sales for the
BC/Yukon District. Following his retirement, he immediately formed
Ideal Images, a promotional products & corporate apparel company.
Recipient of The Citizen Of The Year Glassie in 2005, Bill offers a vast wealth of experience and knowledge from the business world and a passion for marketing and customer service.
Beth Ross Director
Born in Victoria, active in media from 1976, and a resident of Parksville/Qualicum Beach since 1981, Beth established bDigital
Video Productions in 2011. Husband Gary helped raise their combined 5 children, 4 of whom are still local. What better way to support the community
and grow a business than by supporting the Chamber of Commerce. Beth sits on the Communications Committee. Beth believes the Chamber of Commerce is a valuable group and would like to offer her support in a more formal way, by volunteering on the board. She feels she has good ideas about networking and social media support, as well as contributing as a growing new business.
Rudi Widdershoven Past President
Rudi Widdershoven and his wife, Trish, have called Oceanside home since 1983. His experience as an RCMP officer for 14 years, 10 years with the City of Parksville, and now as a Realtor, gives Rudi diverse insights into the community. Due to his desire to be active and give back to the community, Rudi became a director of the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce in 2002, and has served as the Chamber’s Secretary/Treasurer, 1st Vice President, and has chaired the Summer by the Sea Street Market Committee.
Dee McKinney Director
Dee McKinney is the owner of Nail & Body Essence. She has been participating in Chamber events since 2012 as a representative of Oceanside ROI and took out a full membership in 2014. Dee has been an active contributor to the Fantasy Auction, Business Awards and Bocce on the Beach. Dee believes that being a member of the Chamber provides her with the opportunity to support her peers, network and work as a team to grow a strong business based community. She looks forward to serving the membership as a Director with the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce.
Jean Maltesen Director
Jeannie Maltesen moved to Parksville in 1993, and has lived in Errington since 1998. Jeannie holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Education, and is working on completing her Doctorate in Education. She has been employed by VIU since 1993 and currently holds the position of Dean, Faculty of Academic and Career Preparation. As a representative for Vancouver Island University, a local resident of the Oceanside community, a parent of two high school age children, and a spouse of a local business owner, Jeannie has a vested interest in the economic development of this community. She brings a valuable perspective to the Chamber that encompasses a broad scope of stakeholder interests; one that supports the development of a vision and implementation of an actionable plan that will achieve long-term sustainability of a healthy, thriving Oceanside region.
