Committees & Task Forces
Committed to achieving what needs to be done
The Committees and Task Forces of the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce are volunteer committees consisting of members of the Chamber of Commerce committed to achieving the Strategic Plan which is laid out by the Board of Directors annually. Currently, there are four committees of the Board and two Operations Committees. All committees have a member of the Board as a chair or member of the committee and committee membership is drawn from the membership of the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce.
Committees of the Board
1. Executive Committee:
The Executive Committee consists of the President, President Elect, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and Past President. The Board Chair serves as the Chair of the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee meets as required upon request of management or the Board. Resource staff for the Executive Committee is the Executive Director, to Act for the Board on urgent matters arising between regular Board meetings, in cases where it is not possible to convene a meeting of the Board, and to do other things as delegated by the Board to the committee.
2. Advocacy (Policy) Committee:
To create policy recommendations that express the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce’s position on relevant issues, for presentation to local government, BC and Canadian Chambers of Commerce. The Committee will follow the relevant guidelines and submission requirements as set by local governments, and Chambers of Commerce.
3. Economic Development Committee
To ensure that The Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce is recognized and respected as a leader in the process and the champion of a sustainable healthy business community
4. Communication Committee
To effectively communicate Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce initiatives, news and strategies with members, partner organizations, all levels of government and the community.
Operations Committees
1. Membership Committee:
To schedule and facilitate Chamber networking opportunities, organize interesting and engaging guest speakers/entertainment for member dinner meetings and networking events, recruit and retain membership and participation and assess member value through a full member survey.
2. Business Initiatives Committee:
To enhance the community through the initiation and promotion of events that highlight and promote businesses and The Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce
