The proposed Raven Underground Coal Project, located on mainly private land approximately five kilometres west of the Buckley Bay ferry terminal, proposes to remove metallurgical or "steel-making" coal for export to steel-making markets in Japan and South Korea. The Raven Project presents an important opportunity for a socially and environmentally responsible project that will provide economic and social benefits to Port Alberni, the Comox Valley and surrounding regions, including Oceanside.
