PARKSVILLE- Opening a business has become easier thanks to BizPaL, an online service that gives entrepreneurs a personalized list of permits and licences needed to establish and run their business.
“Small business is an important economic driver in Parksville and the mid-Island region. Having a centralized resource on permits, business and regulation from these levels of government makes BizPaL a tremendous asset to any potential new business endeavour,” says Nanaimo-Alberni MP James Lunney.
“Small businesses are the backbone of BC’s economy and supporting them is crucial to a prosperous future,” says Parksville-Qualicum MLA Ron Cantelon.
Entrepreneurs can use BizPaL to receive a personalized list of the permits and licences needed to establish and run their business. This unique partnership between federal, provincial, territorial, regional and local governments is designed to cut through the paperwork burden small businesses face.
Communities that are officially launching their BizPaL website include Parksville, Qualicum Beach, North Cowichan, Lake Cowichan and Gibsons.
"BizPaL will provide the City of Parksville with a new opportunity to better serve the Parksville business community. We welcome this new online service that will provide a streamlined, one-stop shopping service for entrepreneurs looking to start a business in Parksville," says City of Parksville Mayor Ed Mayne.
The BizPaL service was developed with the support of Industry Canada, in collaboration with municipalities and the Province of British Columbia. Area business owners and entrepreneurs can access the service by visiting their municipality’s website.
The Premier’s Innovation and Excellence Awards recognized the BizPaL program in the partnerships category. The goal is to make BizPaL available to all municipalities in British Columbia.
