Arrowsmith Lodge & Cokely Manor are self-supporting, non-denominational homes for the elderly of Parksville, BC & District.Our overall goals are:
- to provide the highest quality of care, consistent with the efficient use of resources in a setting that is as much like home as possible;
- to use the Eden Alternative Model of Care to create an Elder-centred community environment that addresses the three plagues of long term care: loneliness, helplessness and boredom;
- to make our services available to people in the community and to help those people remain in their community
The Arrowsmith Rest Home Society, with the assistance of a CMHC Mortgage, opened Arrowsmith Lodge in the fall of 1971, as a self-supporting, non-denominational home for the elderly of Parksville and district. The Society joined the Provincial Long Term Care Program in 1978; from that time, the operation of the Lodge has been funded jointly by the Provincial Government and the elders. In October of 2005 a new complex care building was opened (Arrowsmith Lodge) and in September 2006, the old building was renovated into 30 Assisted Living units named Cokely Manor. Prospective elders are referred to both buildings by the Provincial Long Term Care Assessment Program.
