Meghan Walker, President
Meghan Walker has been a REALTOR® since 2014. Real estate is one of Meghan’s passions, as is building relationships and it shines through every interaction with her clients. It was the opportunity to do something she loved while establishing long-lasting relationships that drew her from her previous career in hospitality and tourism management. Her commitment to clients and love for the area have made her one of the top producing agents in the business. During her term as a Chamber Director Meghan’s Real Estate knowledge and her Tourism experience were valuable resources for the Events and Policy Committee. -

Peter Jory, Director
Peter Jory has recently joined SD69 as Superintendent of Schools from School District 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap), and has previously worked in the Cowichan Valley, Sea to Sky, Prince Rupert and Fraser-Cascade, as a principal, vice principal, senior staff member and superintendent. Peter grew up on the Island and was a principal in Duncan for five years. He and his spouse have significant history there. -
Cassie Long, Director
Cassie Long moved to Parksville in 2015 from Whistler. Her family chose Parksville because it provided them with the right job opportunities, and they were ready for beach life after having been on the mountain for so long. Cassie works with Bayview Strata Services and has experience with communications, property management, hospitality management, marketing, social media and sales. She is passionate about real estate and sustainable development. She enjoys music, festivals, travel, family time, and community involvement. She’s always interested in connecting with others and exchanging ideas!

Karim Mohammadi, Director
Dual General Manager at the Coast Parksville Hotel and Paradise Seashell Motel, Karim is also on the Board of Directors at Parksville Qualicum Beach Tourism Association. -
Jean Maltesen, Past President
Jeannie Maltesen moved to Parksville in 1993, and has lived in Errington since 1998. Jeannie holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Education, a Master of Education, and completed her Doctorate in Education in 2020. She has been employed by VIU since 1993 and currently holds the position of Associate VP of Marketing and Communications. As a representative for Vancouver Island University, a local resident of the Oceanside community, a parent of two high school age children, and a spouse of a local business owner, Jeannie has a vested interest in the Chamber and the economic development of this community. She brings a valuable perspective to the Chamber that encompasses a broad scope of stakeholder interests; one that supports the development of a vision and implementation of an actionable plan that will achieve long-term sustainability of a healthy, thriving Oceanside region.
The Board of Directors is elected annually and determine policies and programs. The staff employed by the board is responsible for organizing and executing the Chamber of Commerce's programs and promoting policies. The committees consisting of members of the Chamber of Commerce are committed to achieving the goals within the strategic plan. As the #1 business association in the community, we are the voice of business through our collective association.
