    Meghan Walker, President

    Meghan Walker has been a REALTOR® since 2014. Real estate is one of Meghan’s passions, as is building relationships and it shines through every interaction with her clients. It was the opportunity to do something she loved while establishing long-lasting relationships that drew her from her previous career in hospitality and tourism management. Her commitment to clients and love for the area have made her one of the top producing agents in the business. ​ During her term as a Chamber Director Meghan’s Real Estate knowledge and her Tourism experience were valuable resources for the Events and Policy Committee.

  • Jason Hall, President Elect

    Jason Hall, President Elect

    Jason immigrated to Canada from the UK in 1970. After graduating, Jason spent a number of years living and working in Kenya and South Africa. Returning to North America, Jason was headhunted by Estee Lauder, where he joined the ranks of Aveda. Securing the Director of Education role, coordinating educational practices for the Aveda network, this also provided the opportunity to complete his degree in business. Shortly after relocation to California, Jason was approached by a “start up” luxury beauty brand, leading their educational, marketing, product development, packaging and sales divisions. Since relocating back to Canada, Jason has been focused on raising his family, building his own business and supporting local industry. Most recently, Jason has developed and launched his own brand that offers the high standard of the professional beauty industry, yet respecting an accessible price point for the consumers. Jason has also been offered a part time educational position with an Italian beauty company, allowing him to return to his roots, gaining outside stimulation and knowledge to bring back into the community.

    Vicki has worked at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort and Conference Centre for over 15 years in a variety of positions, including Revenue Manager for 5 years and is now Assistant Room Director at the resort.

  • Rob Ferguson, Treasurer

    Rob Ferguson, Treasurer

    Rob Ferguson is a longtime member of the Oceanside community, having called the area home for over 40 years. Rob is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a Bachelor of Tourism Management, Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Master of Arts in Tourism and Urban Culture, and a PhD. He is particularly active within the growing conversation around the contribution of Indigenous tourism to cultural resilience and social reconciliation among select coastal communities in British Columbia and participates in various community advisory boards. Since 2010, he has been employed by Vancouver Island University (VIU) and currently serves as the Interim Associate Dean within the Faculty of Management. Rob is deeply committed to enhancing community wellbeing through locally-led economic development initiatives. As a representative of VIU, a local resident, a parent of two high school-age children, and someone with a strong attachment to his home community, he brings a wealth of experience and a high level of dedication to this aim.
  • Pam Jorgenson, Director

    Pam Jorgenson, Director

    Pam Jorgenson is a Registered Professional Forester with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from UBC and a Graduate Certificate in Professional Communications from Royal Roads University. She is Mosaic Forest Management’s Manager of Community Initiatives and Certifications and has worked in the forest sector for over twenty years. She was instrumental in developing the Parksville Museum’s 2023 forestry pavillion, and helped establish the recent agreement between Mosaic and the Arrowsmith Cycling Club to sanction bike trails in the Hammerfest area, supporting local recreation and tourism. A representative of a local business and a local homeowner, Pam is excited to bring her communications and business knowledge to the Chamber!

  • Avrillee Kenny, Director

    Avrillee Kenny, Director

    Avrillee Kenny moved to Parksville in 2017 from Vancouver. Avrillee holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology from SFU, Diploma in Accounting from UBC and completed her Mortgage Broker Course in 2021. Currently, Avrillee is a consulting and doing bookkeeping and has over 15 years experience in finance, accounting and law. She enjoys helping people with the financial aspect of real estate transactions whether it is with a purchase, refinance or reverse mortgages. In her down time she enjoys volunteering in the Oceanside Community, gardening, cooking and spending time with her daughter, husband and her fur baby.

    Russ McShane, Director

    Born and raised in the area, Russell took over management of Parksville's Boston Pizza franchise and took it from struggling to thriving within 2 years, with top sales and ratings within their region. He looks forward to sharing ideas and best practices and his own expertise with other local businesses.

  • Barrie McWha, Director

    Barrie McWha, Director

    Barrie joined the Canadian PGA in 1967 and has been Head Professional at a variety of golf courses across Western Canada. He has served as a board member, then President of the PGA of Canada. He has also served on the board, then as President, of the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce. He has been Director of Golf at Fairwinds Golf Resort, Executive Professional at Glengarry Golf LInks (now Pheasant Glen) and was Executive Director of the BC Golf House Society from 2006-2012. In 2019, Wedgewood Golf Management, a company consisting of Barrie and partners Ray and Mike Riva undertook a contract to manage Morningstar Golf Club for the Court appointed Receiver. Wedgewood lead Morningstar through the pandemic, out of Receivership in less than two years, and now manages Morningstar for the new owner. Barrie knows the importance of the Chamber of Commerce to the local community and wants to serve the organization.

    Steve Noreen, Director

    Steve moved to Parksville year ago and is happy to live and work in the community. He is drawn to the City and to the Chamber by the vibrant business community and beautiful natural surroundings. He has worked with Destination Greater Victoria both as a Director of the board and as their Client Executive. He is also currently on the Board of Directors of the BC Restaurant and Food Services Association. He is an owner employee of Acera Insurance, in a sales leadership position. He has also been involved with The Mustard Seed and Loaves and Fishes Food Banks, Dine About Mid Island and the SOS.

    Gloria Stewart, Director

    President and Creative Director, Touchworks Communications Inc. With more than 30 years experience in Direct Response Marketing and Annual Giving Fundraising for the social purpose sector, Gloria is responsible for the strategic direction of the company. She started her own company in 1985 as a print broker and direct mail project manager. Working primarily with social purpose organizations, Gloria quickly became known for her analytical, creative and hands-on approach to the programs she developed. Managing both direct mail and telemarketing projects for fundraising and cultivation, she has become known as an expert in Direct Response Marketing. Gloria owns and operates other business ventures in the wellness and human potential market and is a published author.

She is a life-long learner, systems thinker, mentor and connector, with a love for reading and has a strong commitment to investing in local community, giving back and lifting others. Sharon has gained extensive experience as project manager/executive assistant, in business development, document control, human resources, community investment, event/meeting/conference planning and executive calendar management, with a love for nutrition and the ways we can invest in our wellbeing.

    Jon Walters, Director

    Jon has recently moved back to Parksville. He was owner of a commercial real estate services firm, 2005-2024 and currently a Real Estate Associate with Avison Young. Jon was elected City of Parksville Councillor (1996-2001) and was City liaise to the Chamber for multiple years, also City liaise to the (then) PQTA. He has served on a variety of boards and task forces, from Community Futures Nanaimo, Parksville and District Credit Union, Oceanside Hospice Society and Chair, Parksville Beach Festival. While away from our area he was a Director, Gastown Business Improvement Society (Vancouver) President, Erlton Community Association (Calgary) Board of Governors and Treasurer, Lindsay Park Sports Society (Calgary) , governing the MNP Community and Sport Centre (formerly the Talisman Centre), the largest fitness facility in Western Canada. His intention is to enjoy meeting as many Chamber members as possible, to increase, through participation in the Board, the value proposition provided to them by the Chamber.

The staff employed by the board is responsible for organizing and executing the Chamber of Commerce's programs and promoting policies. The committees consisting of members of the Chamber of Commerce are committed to achieving the goals within the strategic plan.
